Back to pear index

Zone:      5 - 9
Ripens:      Middle of September
Fertility:       A self-pollinator but will benefit from a second variety nearby - Chojuro, Shinseiki, Bartlett
Skin Colour:      Yellow with greenish mottling.
Flesh:      White. Firm. Very Juicy. Crisp.
Flavour:      Mild. Sweet. Slightly tart.
Usage:      Good for fresh eating, cooking, or salads
Storage:      Up to five months in cold storage
Notes:      A medium-sized, drooping, plant that should be thinned to one fruit per spur. It has a good tolerance of heat and drought and remains a good producer even when stressed. However, it is quite susceptible to fire blight, black spot, and pear scab.

As with all Asian pears, fruit needs to be handled gently and packed carefully into padded boxes.
