Soil suitability:      Adaptable to a wide variety of soil types though not particularly fond of wet or poorly-drained ground.
Strengths:      Very cold hardy - recovers well from Winter damage and can be used as an interstem in colder regions. Crop production in 2-3 years and plants on this rootstock tend to fruit early. Good resistance to collar rot. Somewhat resistant to powdery mildew, and apple scab, and is tolerant of common latent viruses. Produces few burr knots or suckers.
Weaknesses:      Susceptible to fire blight, and generally needs staking
Misc. notes:      This rootstock is subject to royalty fees
